The Haunted Rocking Chair

This chair is located at James Monroe’s cottage, Ash Lawn, in Charlottesville, VA.  Stories say that Monroe would come here to escape the hectic political life and would spend hours relaxing in his favorite rocking chair. 

The cottage is now a museum and visitors say the chair would rock back and forth at all hours of the day, even though no one was allowed to sit in it.  If someone touched the chair, it would stop rocking.  It would start up again once released.

Reports say the rocking chair has been locked away in the basement and is now gathering dust.  For more information on Ash Lawn, please visit the official site.
